WHO WE ARE
Ty combines his engineering and management background to assist clients with the implications and implementation of resource management. Working with Fortune Global 500 clients, Ty has worked on projects in process efficiency and improvement, strategic planning, carbon tracking and reporting, product design and material selection. Over the years, Ty’s work has spanned a variety of industries, including consumer products, utilities, municipalities, renewable energy, mining, printing and publishing, finance, and green building. Most recently, Ty has led a series of projects with the nation’s leading utilities in the development of more effective demand side energy efficiency programs. This work has paired in-depth technical analysis with key market insights enabling POINT380 to provide the guidance utilities need to better understand their customers, formulate strategy, and allocate their energy efficiency program budgets.
Ty holds a Master of Engineering Management from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden where he also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy and Material Engineering. This blend of technical knowledge and applied business led Ty to start his career in green building design and construction, and later move into consulting as a contractor for Domani Sustainability Consulting. In 2006, he co-founded POINT380 where he has collaborated with other leading consulting groups such as RMI and YR&G, and has worked with a number of clients including IKEA, the City of Boulder, Center for Resource Conservation, Northeast Utilities and National Grid.
Outside of consulting, Mr. Colman is an adjunct faculty member in the Urban Sustainability M.A. program at Antoich University, Los Angeles. In this capacity, Ty teaches a course on the development and management of corporate greenhouse gas inventories. Ty also serves as Board Chair for The 13ers, The Nature Conservancy’s “young professionals” board in Colorado. Ty enjoys spending time with his family and enjoying the variety of outdoor pursuits Colorado has to offer.
